Video Brief and Review Templates
Download four original planning templates for commercial videos, offer revisions, software capture and publication review.
Start with the information a reviewer can use.
A compact source package gives the creative work somewhere to begin and gives the next revision something reliable to return to. Download any template as Markdown, open it in your preferred notes or document editor, and replace the clearly marked example with your own approved information.
The templates are original Martius planning material. You may use and adapt them for your production work. They contain no account form and do not upload your brief or files.

Commercial video brief
One document for the audience, approved product information, creative direction and next step. Use it for a new ad, launch film or service story.
- Audience and decision
- Name a particular viewer, the situation that makes the product relevant and the single action the film should support.
- Product facts and sources
- Write the approved name, benefit, specifications and availability. Put a source and reviewer beside each claim; leave uncertain facts out of the final message.
- Offer and destination
- Record the full offer, eligibility, dates and landing page. Keep these details separate from the mood, story and shot choices.
- Creative direction
- Describe an observable opening, visual treatment, rhythm and sound. State which references guide the treatment and which real product views must stay faithful.
- Assets and permissions
- List the photos, recordings, brand material and voice assets you can use. Identify what each proves and how it may be included.
- Delivery and approval
- Name the intended placement, required deliverables and reviewers. Select the corresponding Martius delivery profile and confirm the destination’s current placement specifications.

Fictional planning example — Luma launch Audience: people choosing a reusable bottle for a day outdoors. Decision: explore the launch collection. Approved facts: Luma is the demonstration brand; the ivory body and dark forest-green cap are the chosen design reference. No capacity, insulation or sustainability claim is supplied. Creative: move from a wide morning landscape to a close product reveal; use restrained titles and a warm original score. Assets: three generated product photographs and licensed outdoor footage; this is an authored studio treatment. Keep reviewable: the product silhouette, cap colour, brand spelling and the closing invitation.

Offer and message revision plan
Map a business change before touching the approved film. Make the affected text, voice, captions and scenes visible to the reviewer.
- Approved reference
- Identify the approved file and project version. Keep them available for a comparison after the revision.
- Old and replacement facts
- Write the previous and new price, date, feature name or benefit. Attach the source of the replacement and its commercial owner.
- Affected occurrences
- Inspect on-screen text, spoken lines, captions, product screens and the destination. Record the scene or time of each occurrence.
- Content to preserve
- List the shots, opening, music, pacing or brand treatment you want to keep. This is a request to check, rather than a guarantee that another edit cannot affect it.
- Next version checks
- Compare the actual export with the approved reference. Check every replacement and the requested preserved content, including caption and voice timing.
- Public replacement
- List the placements to update, the owner and the replacement date. Retire a public copy that contains an expired or incorrect offer.

Fictional revision exercise — not a Martius promotion Approved reference: Campaign v03. Old → new: 30% → 20%; invitation → Start your 14-day trial. Affected: closing title, closing voice line, caption cue and campaign destination. Keep for review: opening product shot, middle demonstration and music treatment. Approve only after: all four occurrences match the brief and the retained opening has been compared with v03. Next delivery: v04 with an explicit commercial reviewer and a list of public copies to replace.

Software capture handoff
A bounded task for a real software recording: known start, allowed actions, visible result and footage that the script will actually use.
- Question the demo answers
- State what a buyer or learner should understand after watching. Choose one workflow with an observable outcome.
- Environment and start
- Record the product version, approved test account, required permissions and starting state. Keep credentials out of the planning document.
- Allowed actions and stop
- List the sequence, what actions are in scope and where to stop for a human review or an unexpected state.
- Record and explain
- Pair each action with the screen state and narration that will explain it. Mark any edit, omission or speed change that could affect a viewer’s expectations.
- Source and information review
- Label footage as a supplied recording, live demonstration or illustration. Inspect names, files, messages and notifications before publication.
- Clip used in the film
- Record the source clip and where it appears in the finished video. A desktop Agent claim additionally needs a real operation and capture record.
Worked planning example · illustrative information
Illustrative task — shared review in a demonstration workspace Question: how does a comment become a resolved scene change? Start: test project open, Scene 02 selected, approved demonstration data. Actions: open the scene comment → edit the selected headline → compare the preview → mark the request resolved. Visible result: the approved headline appears in the selected scene. Boundary: stop if the workspace or labels differ; do not change account settings or publish a project. Footage label: distinguish supplied recordings from the actual Martius desktop operation record; the Flow film on this website remains an authored interface illustration.

Video publication review
A final pass that separates business accuracy, story quality and delivery. Record an explicit approval for a specific version and placement.
- Facts and message
- Compare product names, offers, claims and available features with their sources, across picture, voice, captions and the linked destination.
- Story and creative
- Watch once without stopping. State the message and next step. Check whether the opening, product evidence, pace and closing support that task.
- Sound and captions
- Listen to the actual export, verify important terms and timing, and include necessary non-speech sound information. Check that the film can be followed when sound is unavailable.
- Picture and placement
- Inspect the actual uploaded version. Check cropped details, controls covering text, title reading time, file presentation and the intended destination.
- Rights and provenance
- Identify permissions for product, customer, stock, music and voice material. Keep illustrative or generated scenes distinguishable from actual product evidence.
- Decision and next owner
- Record the approved file, reviewer, date, placement and unresolved limits. Assign an owner to revisit the film when business information changes.
Worked planning example · illustrative information
Illustrative approval record File: Launch v04, exported copy and uploaded preview. Commercial check: approved name and invitation match the source brief. Creative check: audience can name the product and next step after one viewing. Delivery check: narration, captions, picture and linked destination inspected. Decision: approve for the stated launch placement only; retain source assets and v03 for future revisions. Next owner: the named product or campaign reviewer, rather than an unassigned “team”.
